Christian Groendyk, a senior at Fort Collins High, won the Class 5A boys individual title at the Colorado High School Activities Association state cross country championship meet at Norris Penrose Events Center in Colorado Springs. Groendyk covered the 5-kilometer course in 15:13.5 to help the Lambkins earn ninth overall with 230 points. Groendyk, who improved from ninth place last year, became the first Fort Collins male athlete to win a state title since Josh Lybarger in 1995 and the sixth male competitor in program history.
